Meeting Point
Meet your guide here. Brief introductions and walk-through of the route before setting off.

Kinkaku-ji - Golden Pavilion
The top two floors of this Zen Buddhist temple are covered entirely in pure gold leaf, shimmering above the Kyoko-chi mirror pond that perfectly doubles the reflection. Originally built as a shogun's retirement villa in 1397, your guide unravels the centuries of fire, war, and obsession behind one of Japan's most recognised silhouettes.
Kyoto Imperial Palace
For over a thousand years this was the seat of Japan's imperial family. Stroll the raked gravel courtyards, the ceremonial Shishinden hall with its ancient orange tree and cherry tree flanking the throne, and the serene Oikeniwa pond garden. Your guide brings to life the court rituals, poetry contests, and imperial intrigue that unfolded within these walls.

Nijo Castle
Built by Tokugawa Ieyasu in 1603 as his Kyoto residence, Nijo Castle is famous for its "nightingale floors" boards engineered to chirp underfoot to alert guards of approaching assassins. Walk through the opulent Ninomaru Palace, its rooms adorned with gilded Kano-school paintings of tigers and pines, and stroll the meticulously pruned garden designed to look perfect in every season.

Nishiki Market
Five narrow blocks, over a hundred stalls, and 400 years of culinary history. Kyoto's "Kitchen" is packed with pickled vegetables, fresh tofu, grilled skewers, matcha sweets, and seasonal specialities you won't find anywhere else. Your guide leads a curated tasting walk, introducing the vendors and explaining the ingredients that define Kyoto cuisine.
