Yasaka Shrine
The spiritual anchor of Gion, Yasaka Shrine glows with lantern light as locals and pilgrims come to pray. Your guide explains its role in the legendary Gion Matsuri festival and the meaning behind the fox and deity carvings lining the approach.

Ninen-zaka & Sanen-zaka
wo of Kyoto's most beautifully preserved stone-paved lanes slope gently uphill through rows of Edo-period wooden machiya. Antique shops, matcha cafés, and ceramic studios line every step. According to local legend, stumbling on these stairs brings two or three years of bad luck, tread carefully.
Yasaka Pagoda
The five-storey Hokan-ji Pagoda (Yasaka-no-to) soars above the Higashiyama rooftops and has been a Kyoto landmark since 592 AD. The narrow lane leading to its base framed by wooden townhouses is one of the most photographed scenes in all of Japan.

Kiyomizudera Temple
Ascend to the iconic "Pure Water Temple," founded in 778 AD and perched on the forested hillside of Otowa-yama. The great wooden stage built entirely without nails juts out over a 13-metre drop with sweeping views across Kyoto. Your guide shares the legend of the Otowa waterfall below and the three streams said to grant longevity, love, and academic success.
